Service Technician & Mechanic - Crane & Heavy Duty Truck

Position Summary

Carolina Crane & Equipment, located in Raleigh, is seeking a Crane and Heavy Duty Truck Service Technician & Mechanic. Hands-on experience with cranes and lift equipment is preferred, but training may be provided for the right individual. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package. This position is eligible for a Candidate Sign-On Bonus of $300 payable after 100 days of continuous, successful employment.

Essential Functions

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all makes of cranes and heavy-duty trucks
• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components as needed
• Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
• Interface with service writers, supervisor, parts department, and customers
• Prepare proper documentation of actions taken
• Use diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and repairs
• Maintain conformity to safety requirements and other regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience Requirements

• Strong initiative; ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Strong diesel engine, hydraulic, and electrical background
• Basic set of mechanic’s hand tools
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery and in conditions with marked changes in temperature and humidity
• Previous experience with Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks is desired
• Experience with Cummins INSITE or other diagnostic software is a plus
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
