Service Technician - HVAC III

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior HVAC technicians with complex tasks and projects.
• Perform preventative maintenance contracts to ensure system reliability.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain light commercial HVAC equipment.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance, including replacing belts/filters and identifying equipment anomalies.
• Log HVAC equipment details such as refrigerant circuits, electrical circuits, and equipment condition.
• Perform brazing, leak checks, and evacuation processes as required.
• Understand and service commercial DX equipment up to/over 25 tons, including intake/exhaust fans, split systems, heat pumps, water source heat pumps, mini-splits, and electric motor controls.
• Communicate effectively with Team Lead, Coordination Staff, Sales Staff, and customers.
• Complete equipment log sheets for Project Managers and upload them into the database.
• Complete assigned tasks with minimal call-backs and maintain responsiveness to supervisor and dispatcher.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Adhere to basic safe work practices and maintain company tools and vehicles.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the company.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Universal EPA certification.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
• Expertise in troubleshooting complex high and low-voltage electrical systems.
• Proficient in reading wiring schematics.
• Thorough understanding of large unitary packaged equipment over 25 tons, SWUD units, VRF, basic air-cooled chillers, semi-hermetic compressors, dehumidification equipment, specialty equipment, air handlers, boilers, cooling towers, water pumps, valves, actuators, and VFDs.
• Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all components of the above equipment.
• Complete understanding of sequence of operation and control strategies for the listed equipment.
• Strong grasp of airflow for variable air volume systems and duct design for these systems.
• Knowledge of DDC control components and pneumatic systems.
• Demonstrated experience in understanding the basic refrigerant cycle, various heating components, and air distribution systems.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues to customers in layman’s terms.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Physical demands: Occasional sitting; frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing; constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (solo), constant lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Work environment: Exposure to weather, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, atmospheric conditions, electrical shock, toxic/caustic chemicals, wet/humid conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, and working at heights.
