About the role

As a Service Technician, you’ll be at the heart of what we do: diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Caterpillar machines in the shop.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar engines and drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform routine and complex repairs, inspect, and maintain equipment, and rebuild components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Service Air Conditioning systems.
  • Maintain detailed service records.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians on complex repairs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols within the shop environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of a technical school program focused on diesel or power equipment systems, minimum 2 years
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience with diesel, earthmoving, or industrial equipment

Qualifications

  • Proficient reading and writing skills
  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar engine and equipment lines
  • In-depth knowledge of Caterpillar equipment applications, operations, and functions
  • Expertise in diagnostic, testing, adjustment, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Welding experience is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting/Carrying: 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50 lb. pulling
  • Standing, sitting, and climbing up and down stairs, as well as standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
  • Dexterity: Normal
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent movements requiring the use of hands, wrists, and fingers
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible
