About the role
This entry-level position supports a large-scale Battery Swap Project inside mission-critical data centers. Technicians assist with the removal and replacement of approximately 9,000 UPS batteries, each weighing 110–120 lbs. No prior UPS or battery experience is required—full training is provided, including formal EnerSys online training and on-the-job instruction from experienced technicians. This is a labor-intensive, hands-on role ideal for candidates with tool experience, reliability, and interest in building a career in the DC Power Plant and critical infrastructure space.
Responsibilities
- Remove, handle, and install UPS batteries weighing 110–120 lbs
- Assist with cable routing, hardware installation, and basic electrical support tasks
- Safely move, lift, and position heavy battery units
- Support technicians inside data centers and follow all safety protocols
- Complete required logs, checklists, and project documentation
- Complete initial EnerSys online training prior to starting field work
Work Environment & Schedule
- Construction-style environment inside active data centers
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (1–2 hours of overtime daily may be required)
- Travel to multiple data centers within the Central Ohio market
- Work performed around electrical equipment and heavy materials
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift 110–120 lb batteries repeatedly throughout the day
- Must have reliable personal transportation (cannot walk, bike, or be dropped off)
- Must own composite-toe or steel-toe boots with a raised heel
- Must pass drug test, background check, and vaccination requirements
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow directions and work safely with a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cable installation
- Experience with hardware installation
- General labor experience
- Interest in DC power, critical infrastructure, or data center operations
Tools
- Provided: Project-specific materials and safety training
- Required: Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc.)
Pay
$22–$25/hr
