Service Porter

About the role

A Service Porter supports a smooth, professional service operation by keeping vehicles clean, organized, and ready for customers and technicians. This entry-level, full-time role helps protect vehicle condition and dealership standards while assisting leaders as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors
• Top off fluids and charge/replace batteries when required
• Place buyer guides and stock tags on vehicles
• Move vehicles between the service lane, stalls, and parking areas
• Maintain lots and work areas by sweeping, shoveling, vacuuming debris, and removing containers
• Inspect vehicles and parts for cleanliness, damage, and compliance
• Create key tags

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3 months of related experience or training preferred
• Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmissions
• Ability to read basic instructions and safety/maintenance documents
• Ability to communicate in small groups
• Common-sense problem solving in routine situations
• Valid Driver’s License

Schedule

A typical shift starts by checking priorities with the team, then coordinating vehicle flow to keep the drive and service areas clear. You’ll rotate between quick touch-ups, staging cars where they’re needed next, and maintaining lot presentation. Between rushes, you’ll handle small requests from managers, update tags and guides, and perform brief walkarounds to spot anything needing attention. The pace stays steady, with the goal of ensuring every vehicle looks right, is in the right place, and is ready when needed.
