About the role
The Automotive Service Porter assists in the smooth operation of the service department by ensuring vehicles are properly moved, cleaned, and organized. The role includes handling the movement of customer vehicles, maintaining cleanliness of the service area, and supporting service staff with various tasks to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle Movement & Parking: Safely move customer and dealership vehicles to designated service areas, parking lots, or storage areas as directed by service advisors or managers.
- Customer Vehicle Delivery: Greet customers when they drop off or pick up their vehicles for service. Ensure customer vehicles are returned in the same condition as when they arrived, with keys and paperwork organized and easy to access.
- Vehicle Cleaning: Wash, vacuum, and clean customer vehicles as needed, ensuring they are in top condition before being returned to the customer. Perform basic vehicle maintenance, such as checking tire pressure and fluid levels, as directed by service team members.
- Lot Organization: Maintain a clean and organized service lot, keeping vehicles in designated spots and ensuring no obstructions in walkways or parking areas. Keep service bays and parking areas free of debris and other hazards.
- Auxiliary Support: Assist service technicians with moving parts, equipment, or tools as needed. Help deliver parts and supplies to the appropriate service bays, ensuring all necessary materials are available for technicians.
- Maintain Service Area Cleanliness: Ensure that the shop, service drive, and waiting areas are kept clean and organized throughout the day. Perform general maintenance and light janitorial duties, including emptying trash, sweeping floors, and keeping the service area neat.
- Vehicle Check-In/Check-Out: Assist with vehicle check-in and check-out processes, ensuring all vehicles are logged into the system and customer information is recorded accurately. Ensure that any customer concerns or vehicle issues are communicated to the service advisors or technicians promptly.
- Safety and Security: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Help secure the dealership premises by ensuring all vehicles are properly locked, and sensitive materials are kept secure.
- Other Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Service Manager or Service Advisors, including running errands, picking up parts, or delivering vehicles to local destinations.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of automotive terms and services is helpful.
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, positive attitude.
- Ability to lift and move items as required (up to 50 pounds).
- Flexibility to work in various weather conditions.

Pay
$16.00 - $22.00 an hour based on experience.
