Our Volkswagen San Bernardino location is seeking a Service Manager to join our team of over 400 service and sales professionals. Responsibilities
- Establish goals and objectives for the service department and develop plans to meet them
- Coordinate and administer an annual operating budget for the service department
- Direct and schedule all activities of the service department employees
- Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations affecting service operations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know)
- Complete OSHA training and ensure department employees complete it
- Provide technical assistance to service department employees when needed
- Conduct monthly meetings with service department employees
- Monitor service technicians' payroll records and establish competitive compensation plans
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business
- Build relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance personnel recruitment
- Serve as liaison with factory representatives and complete manufacturer meeting notes
- Market the service department through all available channels
- Provide accurate repair estimates and explain costs and time requirements to customers
- Follow up with customers on unsold repairs
- Stay updated on new equipment, tools, and systems; recommend purchases and monitor shop tools
- Perform quality checks on completed repairs
- Maintain paper service history files (customer, warranty, and internal) by VIN
- Ensure work areas and customer waiting areas are clean and comfortable
- Control department performance using comeback reports, warranty reports, and monthly forecasts
- Collect accounts receivable for service work
- Follow up with the parts department on part orders to ensure availability
- Maintain and safeguard company assets (vehicles and equipment)
- Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Personnel Policy Manual
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Five years in a dealership management position
- Current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Import experience is a plus
