Service Excellence HVAC/R Lead Technician (Portland, OR)

About the role
This role is critical to ensuring the optimal, efficient operation of Budderfly’s fleet of ultra-high-efficiency HVAC units. As the Service Excellence HVAC/R Lead Technician in Portland, Oregon, you will maintain and repair HVAC/R systems, diagnose faults, and perform commissioning checks to guarantee peak performance. You will also respond to emergency service calls, log daily activities, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure continued excellent operation of Budderfly HVAC units within your geographic area, including maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems and equipment.
- Identify maintenance risks on HVAC/R equipment and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
- Complete commissioning checks of HVAC units, including verifying and correcting HVAC RTU controller configurations and mechanical operation.
- Provide physical maintenance to Budderfly HVAC units, such as changing filters, cleaning coils, inspecting/replacing belts, and identifying mechanical failures.
- Respond to emergency service calls on nights and weekends (when on-call).
- Clean, adjust, and repair systems, and perform warranty services.
- Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain daily logs and records of all functions in the company work order system.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Comply with service standards, work instructions, and customer requirements.
- Assist with customer queries.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a service technician on HVAC/R systems.
- Oregon HVAC/R Contractor License and EPA Certification (required).
- HVAC controls experience; familiarity with Lennox Core Controllers and Carrier SystemVu controllers is a plus.
- Ability to recognize control and mechanical issues before they escalate.
- Commitment to continuous learning, both technically and professionally.

- Passion for shaping a developing team alongside fellow HVAC/R technicians.
- Customer- and safety-focused mindset.
- Ability to travel within the Portland, OR area.

Pay
$26—$40 USD per hour, based on experience, skillset, qualifications, and location.
