Troubleshooting
The Service Engineer troubleshoots Maretron and Octoplex-branded products at both the system and component levels.
Assembly, Configuration, and Programming
- Assembles, configures, and programs Octoplex digital switching solutions.
- Performs light component-level repairs, including basic PCB modifications, soldering, re-wiring, and software updates.
- Supports system networking, configuration, and software version control.
Technical Support and Documentation
- Stays current on product updates, firmware revisions, and engineering fixes.
- Identifies and reports manufacturing defects or recurring issues to relevant departments.
- Collaborates with senior staff to create or update repair procedures and work instructions.
- Performs light SAP database and service documentation work.
Field Service and Technical Support
- Provides limited field service and technical support, including light travel as required.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required, with a Certificate or Associate degree in electronics, engineering, IT, or a related field preferred.
- Hands-on electronics assembly and service experience is required.
- Marine industry experience is preferred.
- Strong computer, networking, and system-based troubleshooting skills are essential.
- A background in IT, maritime systems, or engineering is strongly preferred.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, including root cause analysis of electronic faults, are necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, especially for communicating technical findings to internal teams, OEMs, and customers (B2B & B2C).
