Service Clerk - 718 Coachella
About the role
The Service Clerk position at Smart & Final, Coachella, offers an excellent opportunity to provide exceptional customer service while contributing to the community.
Responsibilities
- Collect and organize shopping carts within the store and retrieve carts from the parking lot and surrounding areas.
- Absorb and assist customers with the loading of merchandise into shopping carts.
- Provide customers with assistance to and loading of their vehicles.
- Check retail prices on shelves for check stand personnel.
- Pull merchandise from check stand ("go backs") and return it to the proper shelf.
- Walk aisles and return any misplaced items to their proper location.
- Face merchandise on aisles as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the store entrance by sweeping, mopping, and picking up trash.
- Maintain cleanliness of the store throughout the day by sweeping, mopping, and restocking restrooms as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to interact with general public and co-workers.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
Qualifications
- Basic PC/Outlook skills.
- Retail Management Certificate (preferred).

- Physical stamina for lifting and moving merchandise.

Starting Rate: $16.90 per hour.
