About the Role

Butler’s Pantry has been delivering exceptional catering experiences for over 50 years. As a Service Captain, you will supervise service responsibilities at events, ensuring high-quality interactions with clients and guests while upholding professional service standards. This leadership role involves guiding and managing service staff to create memorable events.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a supervisory role at events, performing tasks and filling any role as needed.
  • Motivate service staff to maximize efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Mentor, train, coach, and provide constructive feedback to the service team.
  • Follow up on work-related correspondence with the Butler’s Pantry management team.
  • Understand and enforce the Service Manual; clarify procedures for service staff.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Plan event logistics in advance, including assigning roles to front-of-house staff.
  • Manage team time, including clocking staff in/out and reviewing timecards.
  • Collaborate with Chefs and Facility Managers to complete venue closing checklists.
  • Demonstrate leadership by modeling appropriate behavior and fostering a positive team environment.
  • Act as a MIBE (Make It Better Everyday) Leader by recognizing and rewarding team members.
  • Support a culture that attracts, retains, and motivates top-quality service staff.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the company, sharing its core values and vision.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-based, client-focused service environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and professional appearance.
  • Mature, independent judgment to handle fast-paced, high-stress situations.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Tact, diplomacy, and professionalism in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to provide unbiased feedback in complex situations.
  • Physical stamina for standing long periods and lifting heavy loads.
