About the Role

Ring Power Corporation, a full-line Caterpillar dealer, is seeking an Apprentice Technician to work under the direct guidance of a qualified technician. This role involves performing basic equipment repair functions, including maintenance, diagnostics, and replacement of parts and major components, while adhering to all safety and environmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all assigned work safely, wearing proper personal protective equipment and adhering to safety, environmental, and contamination control policies.
  • Attend and complete required tasks and technician training classes in the apprenticeship program.
  • Maintain a minimum set of tools as defined by the Apprenticeship Program to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble machine components to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Perform basic equipment repair functions, including maintenance, diagnostics, removal, and replacement of parts and major components with mentor support.
  • Work in an assigned area under the guidance of a qualified technician, maintaining a neat and orderly workspace while improving work methods and safety standards.
  • Complete required documentation using appropriate software to record repairs and account for repair times.
  • Submit Apprenticeship program documentation to mentor and supervisor as required.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and supportive conduct toward the work team, contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while meeting safety and quality expectations.
  • Assist with facility maintenance by following contamination control guidelines, including housekeeping and other general maintenance duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 0-6 months of relevant experience.
  • Ability to comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer use, Microsoft Office products, and relevant dealer software programs.
  • Willingness to update knowledge through frequent re-training (once or more per year).

Physical Demands

  • Frequently (3-6 hours/day): Climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, feeling, fingering, grasping, repetitive motion, talking, hearing, pushing/pulling/lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally (up to 3 hours/day): Balancing, stooping, pushing/pulling/lifting 26-50 lbs, lifting over 50 lbs.
  • Constantly (6-8 hours/day): Sitting.

Working Environment

  • Constantly (6-8 hours/day): Inside conditions (protected from weather but not temperature changes), noise sufficient to require shouting to be heard.
  • Frequently (3-6 hours/day): Vibration, hazards (e.g., moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, heat/chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation), exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
  • Occasionally (up to 3 hours/day): Outside environmental conditions, extreme cold/heat, air particulates/contaminants requiring respirator use.

Schedule

Work is typically performed during regular business hours with occasional requirements to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
