About the role
Fairview is looking to hire a Service and Product Assistant to join our team at Fairview East Bank University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE day-shift position, approved for 80 hours per pay period and is benefit eligible. The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This position is represented by AFSCME.
Responsibilities
- Receive, deliver, replenish, clean, and maintain appropriate equipment, supplies, linen, and forms.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of equipment, linen, and supplies.
- Understand inventory control concepts; calculate par levels and recommend adjustments.
- Differentiate supply usage by routine, special cause, patient volume change, or cyclical change.
- Alert Inventory Specialist to variances, stock-outs, defects, etc.
- Account excess inventory, document and properly route.
- Routinely perform cycle counts to identify inventory adjustments and expired product.
- Remove recalled, changed, or expired products as instructed.
- Coordinate shipment, delivery, and stocking of supplies for all locations.
- Operate computer for supply and equipment requests as well as equipment tracking and productivity reporting.
- Maintain medical equipment; identify medical products and equipment by proper name, purpose, and potential connection to other medical products.
- Review Operating Room surgery schedule and select appropriate medical supplies and surgical instruments for Case Care set-up.
- Assure appropriate rotation of medical equipment to maximize utilization and meet patient care area needs.
- Perform gross decontamination of instruments and accessories; clean, rinse, and properly route.
- Decontaminate and clean patient care equipment.
- Respond to customer requests for supplies and demonstrate effective communication.
- Provide courteous and timely responses to customer inquiries.
- Effectively differentiate supply/equipment request types as stat/emergency (life threatening) and routine.
- Speak English proficiently; clearly articulate conversation by phone, email, and in person.
- Confirm nature of requests to ensure accuracy.
Requirements
- High school diploma or 2 years’ experience in lieu.
- 6 months comparable materials or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year health care related experience.
- 1 year customer service experience.
