About the Role
The Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact between drivers and technicians, ensuring accurate and timely communication regarding all service and repairs. This is a highly physical, customer-facing role requiring mechanical aptitude and professional communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Greet drivers on the yard in a timely, friendly manner
- Advise drivers of required and recommended maintenance for their vehicle
- Generate and maintain all work orders and repair orders in the service database
- Enter and prioritize work orders for technicians, including planning and scheduling duties with foremen
- Monitor daily open repair orders and update drivers on any changes in agreed service or completion time
- Tag parts and vendor authorization numbers for invoice preparation
- Check with OEMs for warranty eligibility and run recalls on every vehicle that arrives
- Scan documents into the database
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performance of work duties
Requirements
- Working knowledge of all heavy truck and trailer repair methods, including a background in diesel engines
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to operate a computer-based tracking system and diagnostic software
- Valid driver’s license
- 2+ years of relevant work experience

- Ability to train other employees
- Reefer (refrigerated trailer) experience
