Job Summary
Provides all areas of service to tenants and guests in the dining room. Uses good communication for performing sequence of service. Demonstrates a neat and presentable appearance, observing Liberty dress code. Maintains good relationships with tenants and guests. Assists with seating and ensuring seats are available upon arrival. May assist tenants to or from the dining room, if escort is needed. Sets and clears tables, arranges seating, and ensures cleanliness and condition of china and flatware.
- Maintains cleanliness and condition of all china and flatware.
- Assists tenants in selecting meals if needed.
- Cleans the dining room and serving area between meals and at the end of shift.
- Prepares and plates food items, such as salads, soups, desserts, and hot/cold beverages.
- Keeps supplies stocked in the serving area.
- Rotates menus, guest charge tickets, resident declining dollar, point of sale, and room service forms.
- Washes and cleans dishes and utensils, gathers soiled items, places clean items in storage areas.
- Cleans tables and chairs, vacuums dining areas, sweeps and mops kitchen floor areas.
- Performs daily tasks in accordance with sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Assists with special events/activities held at Liberty Senior Living.
- Reports and promptly reports guests' complaints and grievances to Dining supervisors.
- Monitors temperature records and checklists for holding and storing equipment to maintain safe food at all stages.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen at all times.
- Ensures and assists with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas according to established checklist.
- Reports and takes immediate and appropriate corrective action if standards are not met.
- Creates a positive dining experience for customers that promotes their independence, choice, and overall well-being.
- Encourages participation in the dining program and meal activities.
- Solicits feedback by interacting with customers and conveying feedback and making recommendations regarding food quality and customer satisfaction to the Executive Chef.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma and 6 months or more experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or country club.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a food safety certification.
- Work experience in a service-orientated profession preferred but not necessary.
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards the elderly is essential.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Attends training and department meetings when necessary.
- Performs other duties as outlined by supervisor.
- Effective at delivering written and spoken instruction on a regular basis.
