About the role

The Horton Grand Hotel is a boutique hotel in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, offering a blend of established hospitality and progressive employee initiatives. We are seeking a Server to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and seating customers
• Taking food and beverage orders and accurately entering them into the ordering system
• Making menu item recommendations
• Communicating any food allergy or special nutrition needs to kitchen staff
• Ensuring all orders are filled quickly and accurately and that food is of high quality
• Providing attentive service to diners, such as refilling drinks as needed and checking their needs during meals
• Promptly addressing any customer service issues and referring to management if necessary
• Verifying identification and age requirements of customers
• Mixing traditional and creative cocktails
• Processing payment from customers
• Cleaning glasses and bar utensils
• Making suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences
• Recording and balancing cash receipts and preparing cash deposits
• Opening and maintaining tabs throughout their shift
• Building a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere

Requirements

• 2 years serving experience required
• Bartending, catering, banquet service experience is a plus
