Server - Canyon 49

About the role

Grand Canyon University is seeking multiple servers for its two state-of-the-art restaurants, Havoc House and Canyon 49.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests and inform them of specials and menu changes.
• Make recommendations based on genuine guest preferences.
• Up-sell food and beverage items using suggestive selling techniques.
• Answer questions about the origin and preparation of food products.
• Maintain a high-quality dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, and replenishing utensils and glasses.
• Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders into the POS system, and perform tableside wine service.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of 6 months’ experience as a server.
• Ability to obtain a Maricopa Food Handler’s Card before employment.
• Basic knowledge of food presentation, preparation, and handling.
• Adherence to grooming and appearance standards.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a POS system.
• A professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
• Able to work independently with little supervision.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Work authorization documents for the United States.
• Fluency in English, including the ability to read and write.
