About the role
Grand Canyon University is seeking multiple servers for its two state-of-the-art restaurants, Havoc House and Canyon 49.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests and inform them of specials and menu changes.
- Make recommendations based on genuine guest preferences.
- Up-sell food and beverage items using suggestive selling techniques.
- Answer questions about the origin and preparation of food products.
- Maintain a high-quality dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, and replenishing utensils and glasses.
- Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders into the POS system, and perform tableside wine service.
- Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of 6 months’ experience as a server.
- Ability to obtain a Maricopa Food Handler’s Card before employment.
- Basic knowledge of food presentation, preparation, and handling.
- Adherence to grooming and appearance standards.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a POS system.
- A professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
- Able to work independently with little supervision.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work authorization documents for the United States.
- Fluency in English, including the ability to read and write.
