About the role

The Courtyard by Marriott Houston Rice University is seeking a Full-Time Hotel Server for the Courtyard Bistro. Located between the Houston Medical Center and Downtown Houston, this position offers a vibrant work environment with easy access to upscale restaurants, nightlife, and attractions.

Responsibilities

  • Sharpen your customer service, multitasking, and upselling skills while creating memorable dining experiences for guests.
  • Manage multiple tables or tasks at once while keeping guests satisfied.
  • Accurately take and deliver orders, ensuring the right items are served at the right time.
  • Maintain clean and organized dining spaces that align with brand standards.
  • Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Manage busy dining periods effectively with strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortably upsell menu items, beverages, or promotions to enhance guest satisfaction and drive revenue.
  • Work well with colleagues, kitchen staff, and management to ensure seamless service.
  • Adhere to uniform and grooming standards, representing the hotel brand appropriately.
  • Use basic math and POS experience to handle payment transactions, process bills, and use point-of-sale systems efficiently.
  • Prepare meals to order, follow recipes, and maintain consistent quality and presentation.
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and preparation techniques.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and sanitation standards to maintain guest health and satisfaction.
  • Maintain consistency in portion sizes, plate presentation, and flavor profiles to align with brand standards.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in food service is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Exceptional ability to manage time effectively and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent skills for engaging with guests and collaborating with team members seamlessly.
