Sergeant Security, 1st shift, Full Time, 40 hrs/wk

About the role

Responsible for the direction of daily activities of assigned areas, ensuring overall safety and security. Assign tasks to maintain operational continuity, identify potential security risks, and respond accordingly. Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents.

Responsibilities

• Aid in training security officers.
• Educate, train, and drill hospital staff on responding to emergency situations.
• Assist in Environment of Care rounds and Joint Commission Surveys.
• Perform duties associated with assigned posts, including:
  • Walking and mobile security and safety rounds.
  • Stationary posts, one-to-one observer, traffic control, and special assignments.
  • Overseeing weapon screening using handheld wands and operating the weapon screening system.
  • Conducting investigations, completing incident reports, and maintaining shift logs.
  • Managing access control, infant protection, and securing sensitive areas.
• Provide daily operational support to the Lieutenant, Chief, or Director, and assume responsibility for department operations as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with:
  • Division team members and officer-in-charge (OIC).
  • Immediate supervisor and Nursing Supervisor.
  • Division Management and Health System security teams.
  • Law enforcement agencies.
• Direct and escort visitors, vendors, patients, and staff to appropriate locations within and outside facilities and parking lots.
• Verify all staff are wearing ID badges and ensure the public (visitors, vendors, contractors, etc.) obtain proper ID bands, passes, and badges.
• Fabricate ID badges.
• Respond to maintenance issues during off-hours and contact appropriate personnel for resolution if needed.

Requirements

• 2 or more years’ experience in security or a comparable role.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and meet insurance requirements.
• NJ Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) certification preferred.

Pay

$18.89 - $27.81 hourly.
