Security Officer, 2nd shift , Full Time, 40 hrs/wk

About the Role

Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property to protect lives, prevent theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry, while adhering to Virtua policies and procedures. Provide excellent customer service, hospitality, and a positive experience to visitors, patients, vendors, and staff. Conduct weapon screening at public entrances using approved technology. Respond to emergency situations, provide accurate information and directions, and escalate issues to law enforcement when necessary. Monitor alarms and security cameras.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties at assigned posts, including walking and mobile rounds, stationary posts, traffic control, and special assignments.
• Monitor doors, surveillance cameras, and alarms.
• Utilize Health System technology for visitor control, data input/output, weapon screening (handheld wands and EVOLV system), investigations, incident reports, shift logs, access control, infant protection, and securing sensitive areas.
• Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, supervisors, nursing staff, security teams, and law enforcement agencies.
• Provide directions and escorts for visitors, vendors, patients, and staff within and outside facilities and parking lots.
• Verify staff ID badges and issue proper ID bands/passes to the public.
• Fabricate ID badges.
• Respond to maintenance issues and communicate with leadership for resolution.
• Respond to emergency situations, including CODE Security and CODE RED alerts, as a 1st level operations responder.
• Handle hazardous/chemical substance spills and assist with specialized equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 years of security experience preferred.
• Ability to remain calm and respond quickly in stressful situations.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be at least 21 years old and meet insurance requirements.
• NJ Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) certification preferred.

Pay

$18.69 - $26.01 Hourly
