About The Role

The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role that is responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating both with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist is responsible for more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy.

Please note: internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices for clients to achieve NSMs. Use project phase to build initial client strategy, and use overall marketing goals, current and ongoing campaigns, and historical performance to optimize and revise strategies over time while adhering to Directive best practices. Work closely with Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise. Display strong ability to craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns with a focus on ideation based on competitor and audience insights. Apply best practices to inform strategies, particularly around: LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, and Content Production.
  • Goal Setting: Use available data (Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, Ahrefs reporting) to set goals for clients during their engagement period. All goals must be reviewed and approved by the Associate Director (AsD) before presentation to client alongside the AsD.
  • Project Management: Ensure planned strategy is executed. Use Asana to manage tasks. Delegate tasks to team members (Specialists, clients) and ensure timely completion. In pods with Project Managers, partner to ensure all tasks are created, assigned, and due dates are met and communicated. Work closely with content writers and designers to complete content campaigns on time while ensuring quality meets client standards.
  • Internal and External Communication: Serve as main interface between clients and the team. Build relationships with clients beyond deliverables and get to know them on a human level to be the best consultant for their business. Proactively communicate to clients on timeline expectations, goal attainment progress, and use shared channels (Slack) between bi-weekly meetings. Send deliverables on a regular cadence. Proactively communicate with internal leadership on roadblocks, account growth opportunities, and moments of change (strategy changes, client marketing changes, point of contact changes, etc.).
  • Reporting: Regularly report to clients on progress and impact of strategy, including: bi-weekly meetings (report on NSM progress and ongoing deliverables), monthly reports, quarterly reports, and 2 bi-annual business review presentations.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven track record of success implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building
  • Analytical insight: ability to analyse website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics
  • Strong communication skills: comfortable client facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong familiarity with industry tools: Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools
  • Proven organisational, project, and time management skills
  • Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO and Content
  • Must have agency experience
  • Must have B2B tech and/or SaaS experience
  • Driven to stay ahead of industry trends, including actively learning how AI and automation can enhance marketing and operations

  • CSAT > 4.2
  • Upsells / Cross-sells / Referrals: Regularly look for opportunities for clients to grow their business with Directive (e.g., growing into another service line, increasing budgets within current service line). Build solid relationships and ask for referrals at key moments (e.g., point of contact starts a new job, client leaves a 5 CSAT score).

Work Environment Requirements

Remote-first company with the ability to work from your home office. Global opportunities available where we have established businesses (Canada, Mexico, UK) — must have established and current work authorization and permanently reside in that country. This role operates 100% virtually. Collaborate through virtual meetings (Zoom) and Slack. Required to operate a laptop computer (PC or Mac available), computer software platforms, and other office productivity tools.
