Senior Workday Financials Consultant

Our client Indeed is seeking a Senior-Level Workday Financials Consultant to join their Finance Solution Delivery team on a long-term contract basis. This remote role is ideal for a highly experienced Workday Financials professional who can operate independently, provide functional expertise across multiple financial domains, and support both production operations and strategic enhancement initiatives.

About the role

The consultant will serve as a key extension of the internal Workday team, partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions, resolve complex issues, optimize existing processes, and improve overall Workday platform effectiveness. This position requires a strong hands-on Workday Financials expert with deep experience in financial accounting processes, configuration, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration within enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on Workday Financials configuration, support, and optimization across multiple functional areas.
• Serve as a versatile Workday Financials resource supporting business priorities across different domains.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and deliver timely resolutions.
• Support ongoing Workday enhancements, configuration changes, and process improvements.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions.
• Partner with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to understand challenges and recommend improvements.
• Maintain platform health by delivering sustainable solutions instead of short-term fixes.
• Support testing activities including requirement validation, configuration testing, regression testing, and deployment support.
• Review existing Workday processes and recommend optimization opportunities.
• Assist with Workday reporting, integrations, and system improvements.
• Collaborate with technical and functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Document solutions, processes, and system changes.
• Provide knowledge sharing and support to internal Workday team members.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials experience with strong functional expertise.
• Proven experience supporting end-to-end financial processes within Workday.
• Strong expertise in Workday Financial Accounting (highest priority).
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Workday Financial Accounting
  • Workday Expenses
  • Workday Business Assets
• Experience supporting both:
  • Production support activities
  • Workday enhancement/project initiatives
• Strong understanding of accounting processes, financial operations, and enterprise finance workflows.
• Ability to independently analyze complex business requirements and translate them into Workday solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with excellent systems-thinking capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment.
• Experience owning multiple Workday Financials areas and managing competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Workday Accounting Center and Workday Prism Analytics.
• Experience with Workday integrations, reports, calculated fields, and business processes.
• Familiarity with:
  • Workday Orchestrations
  • Automation frameworks
  • Process optimization initiatives
• Experience supporting cross-functional teams including Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and Business Operations.
• Experience working within a lean Workday team where consultants have broad ownership.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with business stakeholders and leadership.
• Experience working in enterprise-scale Workday environments.
