About the role

Merrick & Company is seeking a full-time Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager in our Denver, Greenwood Village, Colorado Springs, or Loveland, Colorado offices. The position requires an experienced project manager with a history of successfully winning and delivering projects. Local/regional candidates are preferred, with remote candidates considered if they are willing to travel 2x per month.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage a multi-discipline team of design engineers or technicians on water and wastewater projects.
  • Provide input to and participate in strategic planning for the team.
  • Work closely with Business Unit management team to identify growth, project delivery, staffing, and financial performance.
  • Achieve and maintain project schedules and budgets for medium to large, complex civil engineering design efforts.
  • Prepare and oversee fee proposals for water and wastewater design work.
  • Lead design teams and perform independent planning and design tasks, reviewing the designs of others, preparing construction documents, and managing the successful delivery of assigned projects.
  • Exercise initiative, judgment, and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Interface effectively with clients and community members.
  • Provide input to and participate in strategic planning for the team.
  • Manage design teams including design engineers, CAD technicians, and subconsultants as part of project teams.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, government agencies, and community representatives.
  • Perform independent design tasks, peer reviews, prepare construction documents (i.e., design drawings, general and technical specifications), prepare both design and construction cost estimates, organize all project deliverables, and generally manage the efforts of a project design and permitting team.
  • Successfully work with team members who may be in different offices or different geographies from the candidate’s home office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
  • Twenty (20) plus years of experience in infrastructure engineering with fifteen (15) years in Project Management.
  • Colorado Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Strong technical design experience in water and wastewater projects.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • A valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred but not a requirement if successful project experience is demonstrated.
  • Envision (ENV SP) from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure credential preferred but not required.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in water treatment and conveyance, wastewater treatment and conveyance, and associated infrastructure.
  • Proficient in client development, preparing successful proposals in collaboration with marketing and business development teams, and interviews.
  • Experience managing design teams including design engineers, CAD technicians, and subconsultants as part of project teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage project teams remotely or across different locations.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually.

Schedule

Hybrid schedule preferred, with occasional travel to client sites and local offices.
