Senior Water Wastewater Engineer/Project Manager
About the role
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager with 10 or more years of experience to lead and direct water and wastewater opportunities across the Hampton Roads and Mid‑Atlantic region. This position will engage with our established, well-respected team to execute our healthy project backlog and lead our strategy for growth across the Hampton Roads area. This role will be based out of our Virginia Beach office.
Responsibilities
Leading and directing the development of water and wastewater projects as a client-facing project manager.
Managing the planning, design, and construction administration of projects to ensure compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications, codes, statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as Arcadis quality and safety practices.
Communicating with clients, establishing goals and objectives for project teams, and scheduling and coordinating resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
Providing technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer or technical advisor.
Supervising and supporting the work of others while mentoring junior level engineers and technical staff.
Working directly with clients to determine needs and deliver solutions and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients.
Leading/supporting teams in the marketing and proposal phases of projects including preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations, as well as developing scopes of work and budgets for various water and wastewater projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
- P.E. License and ability to acquire PE Licensure in Virginia within 6 months
Key Skills/Attributes:
- Excellent technical engineering capabilities and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both written and verbally
- Strong team leadership experience, including the capacity to manage overall project delivery expectations, prioritize tasks effectively, and provide mentorship to staff
- Exceptional technical writing skills and established relationships or experience working with local municipalities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management experience overseeing municipal water or wastewater projects of varying sizes
- A master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering is strongly desired, along with more than 15 years of relevant industry experience
- Active involvement in regional or national professional associations, industry organizations, and conferences

Pay
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $180,000/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
Schedule
This position is full-time.
