Senior Water Resources Engineer Group Leader

About the role

This role supervises other engineering staff and supports projects and tasks related to flood control design, highway drainage, stormwater/flood control master planning, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and FEMA CLOMR/LOMR submittals. The role manages drainage/flood control design tasks on large, inter-disciplinary projects and acts as the project manager for local projects/studies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers in the development of design concepts.
  • Cook with clients and stakeholders.
  • Cook with other disciplines.
  • Plan and review the production of engineering investigations, models, planning work, reports, drawings and specifications.
  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution.
  • Analyze technical problems, assess the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devise new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Analyze project dimension and scope, and prepare or oversee the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules and job budgets.
  • Cook with other project and task managers, guides others on drafting and design of preliminary and final plans, guides others on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and preparation of studies/reports.
  • Manage projects.

Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering. This level may be achieved by Engineers with 10 years' experience since B.S.; 11 years' experience since M.S. Incumbents typically have 15 to 25 years since bachelor's degree.

Experience with major projects and alternative delivery is a plus but not a requirement.

Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic design principles and applications in arid regions, preferably in Southern Nevada.

Good technical writing, computer and verbal communications skills.

P.E. license is required.

Pay

$135,000 - $198,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
