Senior Water Resources Engineer
S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Senior Water Resources Project Engineer to join our Civil team in Greenville or Spartanburg, South Carolina. We deliver innovative geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction material testing and have grown into a trusted partner for clients across transportation, energy, water, waste management, education, government, commercial, and industrial sectors.
About the Role
As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of environmental projects and provide client-focused customer service in the public sector, manufacturing, energy, and real estate markets. You'll perform technical oversight and direction for stream restoration, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, stormwater solutions, and complex water resource project management. This position includes a mix of both field and office work associated with environmental evaluations.
- Interact with clients, contractors, regulators, local government officials, and the public to help clients complete projects while adhering to environmental regulations and sustainable business goals.
- Lead projects independently, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable business goals. Manage small to medium projects, consulting with senior staff on technical matters.
- Plan and execute field investigations, including field assessment, sampling, and data collection. Lead teams during fieldwork to ensure effective environmental evaluations.
- Apply engineering and technical computations, emphasizing experience with existing and emerging water resources design techniques. Independently verify calculations, review laboratory data, and formulate recommendations.
- Coordinate and prepare professional reports, adhering to company policies and technical best practices. Develop scope and fee proposals for small to medium projects.
- Guide junior staff, foster their development, and actively participate in industry organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biological or Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil and water resources engineering projects.
- Excellent project management and team leadership skills.
- Excellent business and technical writing skills.
