Responsibilities
- Define long-term category strategies, assortment architecture, and growth plans aligned with brand direction
- Lead vendor negotiations, secure favorable terms, manage exclusivity opportunities, and maintain high-value partnerships
- Build and manage open-to-buy plans, category budgets, margin targets, and financial forecasts
- Curate assortments based on trend analysis, client demands, and competitive insights; approve key items and core programs
- Oversee replenishment, lifecycle management, and inventory productivity across assigned categories
- Analyze sales, GMROI, turn, and vendor performance to identify opportunity and risks
- Partner with marketing on campaign assortments, with stores on presentation and training, and with operations on system accuracy
- Coach Junior Buyers on the buying processes, vendor communication, and analytical skills
- Lead vendor appointments, identify new designers, and evaluate emerging trends at domestic trade shows
- Deliver product knowledge sessions and ensure consistent communication across all locations and departments
Requirements
- Advanced merchandise expertise with a deep understanding of luxury jewelry categories, pricing, and client expectations
- Prominent ability to secure favorable terms and building long term vendor partnerships
- Experience guiding junior team members and influencing cross functional partners
- Familiarity with Excel, ASC or similar systems preferred; strong reporting skills
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of buying or merchandising experience in luxury jewelry, watches or high-end environments
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- GIA, ACS, or equivalent jewelry education strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success managing categories, budgets, and vendor relationships at a senior level
