Senior VMWare/Nutanix Administrator (ONSITE)

About the role

Our Utility Client needs a strong VMWare Nutanix Administrator for a 12+ month contract position, working 5 days a week on the West End of NYC (10023). This position is fully onsite, 5 days per week.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Selected candidate will require passing of NERC CIP Personnel Risk Assessment background check
• Must provide 2 references from the most recent roles worked
• Must pass a virtual and in-person interview
• Bachelor's degree (preferably in Information Technology) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in IT Support
• Must have the ability to lift/transport server equipment when needed
• Must be able to provide off-hour, on-call support for server and other system related issues that requires travel to various supported sites
• Must be willing and able to work overtime and be flexible with work hours to respond to emergencies or scheduled work that must be done either prior to or after normal business hours
• Must have the means and be able to travel to various Company locations

Required Technical Skills

• Design and implementation of VMware vSphere and Nutanix environments
• Managed Nutanix clusters
• Nutanix Administration
• Nutanix Support Specialist
• Windows Server operating systems
• Linux Operating Systems, user administration, file system, software, and services
• Understanding of servers and various storage RAID configuration
• Active Directory management, including backup and recovery of domain and GPO setup
• In-Depth Knowledge of Nutanix Hypervisor Migration best practices
• In-Depth Knowledge of VMware Hypervisor Migration to Nutanix AHV Hypervisor
• Knowledge in Nutanix Cluster Deployment
• Fundamental networking concepts and troubleshooting such as DHCP, DNS, Routing, Firewall
• Fundamental understanding of security principles, ACL, Encryption
• Scripting: PowerShell, bash, ksh or perl for automating routine tasks
• Experienced with monitoring system health and performance, able to provide statistics to identify bottlenecks and lead optimization efforts
• Disaster recovery planning and ability to perform backup and restore for systems, applications and data
• Patch and firmware installation and management

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to interpret, modify and write scripts and SQL queries
• Automation Scripts
• Understanding of Baselining, utilizing Industrial Defender
• Knowledge of Darksite patching of Nutanix Hypervisor and components as well as other Hypervisors
• Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance and how it affects best practices in Datacenters

• Exercises good judgment, integrity, and renders sound business decisions
• Strong oral and written communication skills and able to produce documentation on solutions and system design
• Strong technical knowledge of various computing platforms from servers, networks, storage including scripting experience for automation
