About the Role

Design and implement core video player features for consumer facing applications across all of Fox’s networks. Provide a great experience every time users press play and develop industry leading playback performance.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Engineering/Product/Project Management and Backend Technology Services teams to build video player features that contribute to FOX video streaming initiatives.
  • Lead the design, architecture and implementation of player features on iOS/tvOS.
  • Lead efforts in performance, scalability, security, architecture and engineering best practices.
  • Track and prioritize numerous tasks for various team members.
  • Provide technical specifications and documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver software using agile methodologies.
  • Willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest in emerging technologies/trends on mobile platforms.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Excellent programming skills in Swift, Objective C
  • Experience with Cocoa design patterns, XCode tools
  • Experience building components to support video playback, user interfaces, video metadata, and third-party integrations
  • Experience leading a mobile application team at a tech company
  • Demonstrable knowledge of building responsive user experiences across phones and tablets
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, unit testing and end-end testing
  • Git, SVN, Jenkins, Docker, Agile methodologies
  • Excellent documentation skills, UML diagrams a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment

Nice to Have, But Not a Dealbreaker

  • Experience with video streaming technologies (HLS)
  • Experience with video QoE metrics, ABR algorithms, video player frameworks (AVPlayer, AV Foundation)
  • Experience with analytics platforms (Conviva, Segment)

Qualifications

  • Accomplish engineering and organization missions by completing related results as needed.
  • Support and develop software engineers by providing coaching and educational opportunities.
  • Participate in Tier 3 on-call rotation support for the services you and your team develop and operate.

Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $143,000.00-161,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
