About the Role
This role specifically supports a regional Commercial Portfolio Management team focused on the West Region. The Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management Manager (SVP, PM Manager) is responsible for managing and developing an assigned team of Portfolio Managers within the Banking Group Portfolio Management (BGPM) team. The role requires flexibility and availability to work effectively across U.S. time zones, with frequent availability for meetings in Western time zones.
Responsibilities
- Manage the group’s workflow, assigning new opportunities based on experience, development, industry knowledge, and geographic location.
- Oversee the deal lifecycle, including pre-screening, risk management, and deal execution.
- Evaluate complex transactions and recommend deals and structures to deal team members and Credit Risk Management.
- Ensure the quality of work submitted by Portfolio Managers (PMs) to credit partners, providing coaching as necessary.
- Uphold underwriting best practices, LCF determination, and Credit Policy.
- Guide PMs in working with deal teams and outside counsel for effective legal documentation.
- Oversee quarterly and annual review workflows, ensuring effective utilization of third-party resources.
- Partner with sales leaders and business partners to support the bank's relationship model while adhering to Key’s risk culture practices.
- Manage employee performance, development, and compliance.
- Take a lead role in developing the bench for new PM talent and participate in talent acquisition efforts.
- Coordinate ad hoc data gathering as required by senior management or risk partners.
- In some cases, directly manage a small portfolio of corporate credit client relationships.
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts and resources throughout the bank to facilitate collaboration and problem-solving.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, and/or business (required); Master's Degree / MBA (preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of commercial underwriting, credit banking, or financial services experience, with industry expertise aligned to the assigned specialty.
- Competency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn other technology applications.
- Broad experience with financial analysis/modeling, including secured and unsecured corporate cash flow lending.
- Extensive experience in research, due diligence, and deal knowledge to assess corporate creditworthiness.
- Proven track record in managing a diverse portfolio, including complex syndicated deals.
- Success in building client relationships, managing conflict resolution, and influencing business results.
- Extensive experience leading counsel and deal teams through credit agreement negotiation and documentation.
- Demonstrated enterprise mindset with understanding of banking and investment banking products and services.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to lead, plan, multi-task, and coach others.
