Senior Veterinary Assistant

About the role

Our hospital is seeking a Full-Time Senior Veterinary Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital. The Senior Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary
• Stock examination and surgery rooms with supplies
• Sterilize tools and ensure equipment is in working order
• Communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files
• Perform technical tasks such as venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, anesthesia monitoring, dental prophylaxis, radiography, administering medications, and performing laboratory analysis
• Provide client education

Requirements

• Professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills
• Ability to multi‑task in a hands‑on environment
• Energetic people‑and‑pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
• Compassionate and caring attitude
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
• Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting
• Regular on‑site presence required; in‑person attendance essential for patient care, time‑sensitive needs, team collaboration, and safety

Skills

• Prior customer service experience
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Technical skills (subject to state limitations): venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, anesthesia monitoring, dental prophylaxis, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, client education
