dentsu is seeking an experienced Senior UX Researcher to lead qualitative and quantitative research initiatives for a strategic client with an established relationship and significant opportunity. This backfill role on a long-term partnership will deepen research collaboration and elevate delivery quality.

About the role

You will serve as the onshore research lead for an engagement at the intersection of rigorous methodology, client relationship management, and fast-turnaround insights delivery. The role requires designing and moderating complex in-depth interviews, executing quantitative survey research (including statistical analysis), and translating findings into client-ready insights while maintaining frequent client touchpoints and high-stakes presentations. Study design is typically provided by the client; your differentiation will be in execution excellence, insight depth, and client confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute in-depth interviews, diary studies, and quantitative surveys across diverse research questions and participant populations
  • Serve as the primary onshore point of contact for the client, managing expectations, solving problems proactively, and presenting findings with clarity and confidence
  • Synthesize both qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights, distinguishing between observation, interpretation, and recommendation
  • Lead or support US-based studies independently while contributing expertise to the offshore India research team on larger or complex engagements
  • Own fieldwork execution, including partnership with participant recruitment, moderation, data quality, and timeline management in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Maintain the highest standards of research rigor and client communication; your work directly influences renewal decisions and account growth
  • Collaborate with quant research partners when studies require data analysis or statistics (e.g., MaxDiff / TURF / Conjoint)
  • Manage ambiguity and navigate client relationships with a calm, problem-solving orientation, especially amid competing priorities or unclear direction

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7 years of professional UX or market research experience
  • Demonstrable expertise in conducting in-depth interviews (IDIs) and diary studies across multiple research contexts; evidence of extensive fieldwork
  • Hands-on experience designing and analyzing quantitative survey research, including exposure to statistical methods and either/both R/Python
  • Strong synthesis and analytical skills: ability to identify patterns, surface surprising insights, and distinguish between data, interpretation, and speculation
  • Excellent written communication; ability to produce polished, research-defensible insight documents and client presentations
  • Proven client-facing skills: present findings confidently, handle pushback gracefully, and maintain professional composure under pressure
  • Comfort working independently on projects while supporting larger team efforts; balance autonomy with close collaboration
  • Experience moderating research with diverse populations and adaptability to different participant contexts
  • Ability to work in a consulting environment with fast timelines, shifting priorities, and competing stakeholder needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with technology companies or in consumer tech research
  • Familiarity with research platforms such as dscout, Qualtrics, SPSS, or similar tools
  • Background in behavioral economics, user psychology, or related frameworks
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore research teams
  • Exposure to competitive intelligence or market research methodologies

What We're Looking For

  • A researcher who views the client relationship as integral to research, understanding that presentation and communication shape whether clients act on findings
  • Someone energized by ambiguity who can help clients clarify their actual needs
  • A collaborator who contributes to team projects but also thrives owning studies from design through delivery
  • A person who values research rigor and can explain methodological choices in plain language to researchers and non-researchers
  • Someone who remains calm when clients are frustrated, stressed, or changing direction mid-project, and can identify the research problem beneath the emotion

Schedule

Employees within commutable distance of hub offices (Chicago, metro Detroit, Los Angeles, New York City) are required to work from the office three days per week (two days per week for Los Angeles). Remote designation may apply for those outside commutable range, depending on role and business needs.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $78,000–$135,000. Placement within the range is based on relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.

Benefits

  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance
  • 401k
  • Flexible paid time off
  • At least 15 paid holidays per year
  • Paid sick and safe leave
  • Paid parental leave
  • Compliance with applicable state and local leave laws, including the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act
