The Role
The Senior Underwriting Analyst is responsible for assisting Underwriters through all stages of the loan due diligence and underwriting process. The position involves managing deals with minimal oversight, handling underwriting tasks, drafting documentation, and mentoring less experienced analysts.
Responsibilities
- Execute additional projects and duties as directed by SME, Underwriter, or DCU
- Manage underwriting tasks for assigned deals, ensuring quality and timely delivery
- Draft underwriting documentation and present deals to the loan committee
- Cultivate relationships within the underwriting network to achieve shared goals
- Foster the growth and development of less experienced analysts
- Identify and address areas for improvement in new or less experienced analysts
- Proactively manage workload, communicate effectively, and distribute work equitably
- Communicate clearly with all levels within the underwriting process
- Suggest process improvements and best practices
- Develop and implement a personal development plan
- Coach and mentor other staff members
- Support other underwriting tasks as required
Requirements
- Strong multitasking abilities in fast-paced environments
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial real estate underwriting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of underwriting software and processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
