Senior Underwriter, Middle Market Construction
About the role
Arising out of growth, our US Middle Market team is looking to add a Senior Underwriter to our Construction vertical. As a Senior Underwriter, you will have the opportunity to help execute the go-to-market strategy of the US Middle Market Construction business and be responsible for managing a portfolio driving profitable growth.
Responsibilities
- Marketing to Middle Market producers to secure new and renewal business within the construction industry.
- Reviewing Middle Market submission information, including loss history, while conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account based upon defined construction appetite guidance, along with company Regulations and Guidelines.
- Coinciding with varied business divisions including Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory, Strategy & Analytics, and others internally that support our businesses.
- Determining quote or declination of risks.
- Calculating rates and premium charges using approved rating models.
- Developing and modifying policy wording in accordance with delegated underwriting authority when the standard forms are not appropriate.
- Actively cross-selling afforded products and services.
- Supporting service standards in delivery of primary casualty construction products and services.
- Working with the other underwriters on the team on cross marketing goals and objectives.
Requirements
- A moderate amount Commercial Underwriting Experience.
- Underwriting expertise as it relates to solutions for construction managers, general contractors, trade contractors, to contribute to the underwriting of the full range of Construction accounts.
- Outstanding insured and broker interaction with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts in order to effectively promote offered products.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with both internal teams and external brokers.
- Outstanding organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
- Outstanding comprehension and work experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree required with advanced education and / or professional designations including but not limited to CPCU, IIA, CRIS preferred but not required.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 25% travel as necessary).

Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD $107,600-209,100. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
