Senior Underwriter, ESL
About the role
We are seeking an Employer Stop Loss Senior Underwriter who will be responsible for risk assessment, analyzing and underwriting new and renewal business for our Employer Stop Loss product. The position is responsible for producing a profitable book of business working through select brokers, consultants and reinsurance intermediaries.
Responsibilities
- Review underwriting information, develop rates and terms for Employer Stop Loss accounts based upon underwriting rules, guidelines, pricing methodologies and account specific data
- Market-facing responsibilities include interacting with brokers, consultants and reinsurance intermediaries as necessary
- Accountable for thorough internal and external communication and the explanation of all underwriting decisions
- Provide management reports and maintain key data systems as required
- Responsible for all aspects of account management and producer relationships to maximize profitability and meet service standards
- Works closely with AVP Employer Stop Loss, Underwriters, PULSE and Claim Examiners, to meet required deadlines, business objectives, and client service standards
- Review, finalize and issue Policies and Amendments
- Ensure ESL competitiveness with industry peers while ensuring compliance with established guidelines
Requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft office with focus on Excel, Word and Access and knowledge of PowerPoint
Ability to manage competing priorities and to operate without close supervision during high volume, high demand cycles of the business
Superior oral and written communication, negotiation and analytical skills
Ability to think strategically, effectively assess risk and make solid data-driven decisions
5+ years experience working as an Employer Stop Loss underwriter.
Experience working in matrix organizations an asset
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required

Pay
Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000
Bonus: 15% Target
