About the role

We’re partnering with a boutique fiduciary firm that specializes in high-touch estate and trust settlement work. They’re hiring a Senior Trust Officer to take the lead on estate (death) settlement matters—stepping into sensitive, complex situations and driving them from intake through final distribution with precision, empathy, and strong fiduciary judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead fiduciary and primary relationship owner on estate and trust settlement engagements
  • Administer estates end-to-end: intake ? asset gathering ? valuations ? account closures ? final distributions
  • Coordinate with estate planning attorneys, tax professionals, courts, and external advisors throughout administration
  • Oversee sequencing and documentation for debts, expenses, and tax payments
  • Lead beneficiary communications with clarity, empathy, and professionalism during a difficult life event
  • Interpret and execute wills, trust documents, and estate plans accurately and in compliance with fiduciary standards
  • Navigate probate as needed, partnering with legal counsel and court processes
  • Proactively identify and manage risk, delays, escalations, and stakeholder conflict
  • Maintain detailed records, reporting, and documentation aligned with internal controls and fiduciary requirements
  • Deliver a white-glove client experience consistent with a boutique firm environment

Requirements

  • 7+ years of trust/estate administration experience with strong depth in estate/death settlement
  • Strong command of fiduciary principles, regulatory expectations, and settlement workflows
  • Experience handling probate coordination with attorneys and courts
  • Solid understanding of estate-related tax considerations (estate tax + income tax coordination)
  • Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence—comfortable guiding families through sensitive situations
  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and able to manage multiple complex matters without things slipping
  • Able to operate independently while partnering closely with internal leadership and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • CTFA preferred; JD or CPA a plus
