About the Team
The Edward Jones Trust Company (EJTC) works alongside a client and their professional advisors, such as an estate attorney or tax professional. We collaborate closely with financial advisors and branch teams to support clients' legacies with precision, objectivity, and genuine care. Through trust administration, discretionary investment management, estate settlement, and complex asset management services, we provide specialized expertise that reduces the burden on loved ones and helps ensure the client's intentions and values are honored during their lifetime and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Daily management of trust accounts in accordance with governing instruments (trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney, and related contracts), Edward Jones Trust Company guidelines, and federal and state fiduciary standards.
- Conduct deep discovery for asset identification, gathering, and analysis.
- Onboard new client and branch relationships; develop, strengthen, and retain client/beneficiary and branch team relationships.
- Review, understand, and interpret complex legal documents, including trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney, and other contracts to limit regulatory and legal risk.
- Partner with financial advisors to fully understand clients' needs and deliver an excellent client experience.
- Discuss and explain complex tax and estate planning concepts and trust terms with beneficiaries and financial advisors.
- Coordinate with other members of the Client Team, including Trust Company associates, branch teams, attorneys, CPAs, and outside business professionals to provide an ideal client experience.
- Research various laws, including statutory requirements, probate rules, and court requirements, and apply this knowledge to unique circumstances.
- Understand and balance the needs of grantors, current beneficiaries, and future beneficiaries; effectively communicate this analysis to all parties.
- Coordinate the management and risk mitigation of special assets and real estate.
- Serve on Governance Committees responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trust Company; lead and/or participate in business plan deliverables or other initiatives as requested.
- Support, train, mentor, and serve as a thought leader and resource to the team and area.
- Develop and implement new guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state fiduciary standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- CTFA, JD, or CFP certification required.
- 7+ years of trust and estate management or related legal or financial services experience required.
- Knowledge of advanced fiduciary, gifting, trust management principles, estate planning principles, taxes, insurance, and investment principles and techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulations, applicable laws, tax planning, and wealth-transfer strategies.
- Advanced ability to balance high-risk compliance, legal, and business decisions.
- Ability to effectively train, delegate, and informally lead others who provide service to clients and branch teams.
- Highly skilled in written and verbal communication, especially in explaining complex legal matters to clients with varying levels of expertise; strong interpersonal skills.
Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week.
