About the role
This is a confidential senior-level position assisting attorneys in all aspects of child protective proceedings and trials and/or foster care hearings. Responsibilities include pre- and post-trial preparation, investigations, the appellate process, and direct responsibility for some legal matters. The role involves greater independence and a stronger focus on conducting legal research compared to a Trial Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in child protective proceedings and trials, including pre- and post-trial preparation.
- Conduct investigations and support the appellate process.
- Assume direct responsibility for certain legal matters.
- Perform legal research and draft/compose legal documents.
- Perform related work as required.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications (one of the following):
- High school diploma or equivalency plus:
- Completion of an accredited paralegal training program with a certificate and three years of paid full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience drafting and composing legal documents in a law office setting; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and one year of post-graduate education in law plus two years of experience as described above; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college plus three years of experience as described above; or
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college plus five years of experience as described above; or
- Seven years of paid full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience as described above; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined above.
Pay
$53,497 - $71,105 annually
