Senior Transportation Structural Engineer

Job Overview

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Design of new and rehabilitated bridge projects.
• Ensure project schedules and quality standards are met.
• Maintain project scopes, budgets, and deliverables.
• Prepare contract bid documents and oversee construction phase services.
• Cook up with subconsultants and internal teams.
• Lead design engineers and drafting personnel.
• Communicate effectively with clients and foster strong professional relationships.

Required Skills

• Proven ability to manage structural design for engineering and construction projects of varying complexity.
• Strong knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete components.
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Required Experience

• 12–20 years of relevant experience in structural design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland.
• Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards.
• Experience working with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).

MUST HAVE Qualifications

• 12–20 years of structural design experience.
• Maryland PE license (active).
• AASHTO LRFD bridge design experience.
• Experience with MDOT projects.
• Expertise in steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete design.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with occasional standing/walking. Sedentary work with adequate lighting and temperature control. Minimal exposure to noise, dust, or hazardous conditions.
