Senior Transportation Project Engineer

About the role

TERRA Engineering, Ltd. seeks an experienced engineer to join our dynamic team. This individual will apply diverse and innovative techniques, manage project designs, and coordinate with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project proposals, client interviews, and stakeholder presentations
• Determine project team and staffing requirements
• Contribute to and supervise design concepts, studies, design options, and design criteria
• Perform complex analyses and design calculations, document design procedures, and ensure compliance with codes and standards
• Prepare design documents including schematics, design details, calculations, specifications, and utility coordination
• Coordinate project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and commissioning documents
• Affirm project schedules, budgets, and design consistency with project criteria
• Manage permit requirements and resolve construction-related issues, disputes, and disagreements
• Supervise close-out documentation processes with contractors, clients, and agencies and identify lessons learned for training
• Create and enforce TERRA standards and guidelines
• Author marketing materials and develop relationships with team members, multidisciplinary team members, vendors, and authorities having jurisdiction
• Mentor, train, and provide oversight to staff members
• Recruit, interview, and select candidates

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (ABET/EAC-accredited program)
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with computer-aided design software and other engineering tools
• Effective public speaking and presentation skills
• Understanding of industry and construction practices
• Ability to conduct site visits as needed
