Senior Transportation Engineer

Principal Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for complex transportation projects, including highways, bridges, transit systems, and multimodal networks
- Provide advanced technical oversight for transportation design and support project teams through delivery
- Perform site assessments and develop detailed analysis and technical reports
- Partner with clients to understand project needs, define requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong relationships
- Review transportation infrastructure designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence to support quality control and client requirements
- Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and project requirements
- Provide technical training, mentoring, and field issue resolution with minimal support from senior staff
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices while supporting research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
- Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, including interpretation and application of state and local design criteria
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and lead project interviews and presentations
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills for transportation planning, engineering design, and regulatory processes
- Advance knowledge with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, environmental, policies, and permitting procedures
- Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays
