Senior Transportation Construction Inspector
About the role
This position is part of HDR’s Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) program. The ideal candidate will perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and/or bridge construction projects, adhering to NCDOT policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Identify discrepancies or conflicts within contract documents
- Enforce contract documents
- Manage other inspectors as needed
- Perform inspections and document findings
- Travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections as required
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting transportation projects
- High School diploma or equivalent (candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
- A minimum of 5 years experience
- Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law
- NCDOT experience preferred
- Management experience a plus
- Preferred qualifications include strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and proficiency with MS Office

Pay
The pay range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This position is full-time and works a standard 40-hour week.
