Senior Transportation Construction Inspector

About the role

This position is part of HDR’s Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) program and involves performing construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and/or bridge construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Identify discrepancies or conflicts within contract documents
• Enforce contract documents
• Manage other inspectors as needed
• Perform site visits and inspections
• Ensure compliance with NCDOT policies and procedures

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting transportation projects
• Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law
• NCDOT experience preferred
• Preferred qualifications: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), management experience, local candidate preference

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
• A minimum of 5 years experience
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
• Strong written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
