About the role

Arcadis is looking for a proven Senior Traffic Engineer - Design Lead to join our Transportation team and help shape high-profile roadway projects across the eastern United States. In this role, you will lead a talented team of engineers delivering complex traffic design projects, including signing and marking, ITS, signal, tolling, and intersection design work, guiding projects from concept through delivery.

This hybrid position may be based in one of our Eastern US offices, offering flexibility with a hybrid schedule and opportunities to collaborate in person with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing team of engineers in developing traffic, ITS, and tolling plan elements for major Interstate and arterial projects.
  • Drive scope, schedule, and budget performance for traffic tasks on major traditional and design-build projects.
  • Provide quality assurance leadership on highly complex projects where precision and sound judgment matter.
  • Build strong client relationships by leading technical discussions, presenting results, and serving as a trusted advisor throughout project delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, helping strengthen technical capability and consulting skills across the team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience post-degree.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • PE in a US-based jurisdiction with the ability to obtain your PE in other jurisdictions (as needed) within six months of hire.
  • Expertise in the use of MicroStation/Open Roads Designer, GuideSign, and SignCAD.
  • Must possess a US Driver’s license.

  • Experience leading design teams for successful delivery of design-build projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in groups as well as independently.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $101,376 - $184,477. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
