Senior Traffic Engineer

As part of LJB’s Transportation Practice, you’ll deliver innovative, community-focused transportation solutions that connect people, support communities, and improve quality of life. This position is located in one of our Ohio offices (Dayton, Cleveland, or Columbus).

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, and safety studies.
• Design signal systems, signal timing plans, maintenance of traffic, pavement markings, signage, and highway lighting.
• Conduct corridor studies and other technical engineering tasks.
• Balance design work with sales efforts to support business growth.
• Manage projects, tasks, and client relationships.
• Visit work sites to monitor project progress and report findings, adhering to all safety requirements.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• 7 to 15 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, TransModeler, VISSIM, AutoCAD/MicroStation/Geopak/Open Roads Designer, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) license.
• Experience with Travel Demand Modeling Software (TransCAD, CUBE), ArcGIS, or SignCAD.
• Experience working with ODOT and/or Ohio municipalities.

• Ability to collaborate in a team setting with traffic, transportation, and site/civil engineers.
• Mentor, direct, and supervise the work of other engineers.
• Identify project issues and facilitate resolution.
• Analyze situations to improve efficiency.
• React quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.

Pay

Salary range: $114,000 - $140,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.
