Key Responsibilities
- Lead a group of traction power engineers and electrical designers to develop traction power construction document packages.
- Design traction power substations, one-line diagram, protective relay schematics, equipment layout, site plans, feeder cables, duct bank and conduit layouts, and grounding systems.
- Cook up with other systems engineers for systems integration.
- Cook up with electric utility companies to design the medium AC voltage power feeds to the traction power substations.
- Perform traction engineering studies including short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis.
- Develop specifications and cost estimates.
- Review project submittals and requests for information (RFI) from vendors & contractors.
- Provide testing and commissioning support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Project Management experience.
- 10 to 15 years of experience with 600, 750 and 1500Vdc traction power substation design.
- Professional Engineer's license is required.
- Experience with North American transit industry is highly desirable.
