Senior Tooling Engineer

About the role

Join a team that manufactures the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force at Saab in West Lafayette, IN. This facility uses advanced manufacturing techniques and supports Saab's broad product portfolio through research and development.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of production systems and working methods, influencing the design work to achieve low production costs without compromising function, safety and quality.
• Develop new technical solutions and contribute to the development of efficient production systems and assembly lines based on Lean principles.
• Deploy advanced tooling options where they can be effectively leveraged.
• Ensure the accurate and timely tooling resources are available for the operation, supported by processes to ensure tooling maintenance and calibration.
• Drive continuous improvement for tooling resources and processes.
• Consistently demonstrate support for the core Company values - trust, drive, expertise and support.
• Work collaboratively with Swedish tooling resources to deliver tooling solutions.
• Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values: Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support.
• Able to work extended schedule, when needed, to support the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant tooling experience in a manufacturing environment; 10+ years relevant tooling experience and Aerostructures experience is preferred.
• Driven, innovative and takes initiative.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Catia, SolidWorks, or similar modeling skills desirable.
• Able to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
