Senior Therapist

About the Role

The senior therapist is responsible for providing direct clinical services to ABH clients and their families. Additionally, the senior therapist provides clinical leadership as delegated by their administrative supervisor, including responding to client emergencies, facilitating daily operations, arranging staff coverage, and facilitating intake staffings in the absence of the administrative supervisor. The role also involves providing individual and group clinical supervision to assigned outpatient therapy staff.

While the senior therapist is not responsible for performance evaluations or disciplinary action, they provide input to these processes for staff they supervise or interact with regularly.

Responsibilities

• Provide a minimum of 50% face-to-face direct billable services (up to 65% in units with minimal supervision responsibilities).
• Ensure daily operations of clinical services, including:
  • Responding to client emergencies or complaints and arranging staff coverage.
  • Running intake case staffings.
  • Coordinating the care review process.
  • Resolving coordination problems with clerical staff.
  • Ensuring all charts are submitted to medical records by the end of each business day.
  • Maintaining continuous unit coverage by a designated person in charge.
  • Alerting the unit administrative director of potential problems requiring intervention.
• Provide individual and group clinical supervision to assigned outpatient therapist staff as delegated by the administrative supervisor.
• Attend service line meetings (not clinical managers meetings).
• Complete documentation within one calendar day of service delivery.
• Meet productivity goals as designated by the department.
• Conduct therapy sessions in the language of the population served, if applicable.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a behavioral health field.
• Licensure: Ph.D., LCSW, or LPC in the State of New Jersey.
• Valid NJ driver’s license for use of company vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training and experience in providing clinical supervision.

Training

• Annual training in designated areas of specialty.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer (existing incumbents with Heart Saver First Aid CPR/AED must renew with BLS).
