Responsibilities
- Aid in planning, developing, executing, and evaluating high-throughput screening projects for antibacterial, anti-viral, and anti-toxin therapeutic areas.
- Assist in the development of novel assays/methods for various programs, including basic cell culture.
- Screen molecular compound libraries for therapeutic efficacy to support MCM development.
- Perform in vitro and in vivo microbiological experiments to evaluate therapeutic compounds for antibacterial/antiviral/antitoxin activity.
- Execute standard molecular biology techniques to support assay development.
- Support mouse studies when necessary, including inoculations, specimen collection, and analysis using ELISA, Western blot, and Mesoscale Discovery based assays.
- Prepare technical reports, SOPs, and manuscripts related to research efforts.
- Present research findings at scientific conferences and internally as needed.
- Assess and maintain laboratory supplies in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 environments.
- Coordinate supply orders with division resources and ensure compliance with regulatory guidance.
- Train new personnel, including students and technicians.
- Communicate unexpected experimental data/results and assist in troubleshooting or root cause analysis.
- Communicate laboratory or other work-related issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with internal maintenance or external vendors for technical support and troubleshooting.
- Maintain an orderly laboratory environment in compliance with regulations.
- Assist in training new personnel as needed.
Qualifications
- Necessary skills and knowledge: specialized skills such as aerobiology, clinical pathology, electron or confocal microscopy, histopathology, quality assurance, and good laboratory practice.
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of related experience or a master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.
- Preferred qualifications: Active SECRET clearance, Ph.D., and preference for a master’s degree.
Pay and Benefits
