This field-based role is a critical part of our unique customer model, executing the BMS aspiration to deliver the most impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and drive adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients. The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians, serving as their primary point of contact. The TAS liaises with other BMS functions to deliver an elevated Customer Experience (Cx) by meeting HCP needs in a timely and scientific manner, prioritizing the safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on business results and performance objectives.

The TAS is anticipated to spend 100% of their time in the field with external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Promote approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Create demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use of products in appropriate patients.
  • Engage with and continuously maintain/grow a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Prepare and successfully implement comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Proactively use available tools such as CE3 to derive insights and dynamically inform call plans; provide feedback on tool usage to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct fair and balanced scientific dialogue using approved resources and publications to present information to HCPs, ensuring medical accuracy.
  • Deliver in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discuss product-related scientific information consistent with label.
  • Organize external speaker programs, selecting speakers from the approved Speakers Bureau list and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintain a high level of working expertise on emerging data for approved indications.
  • Engage real-time medical support through Medical on Call to answer unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries.
  • Proactively collaborate with other field teams to ensure the best Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs.
  • Gather and share relevant insights and information internally with appropriate stakeholders to enable BMS to better serve its customers.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or preferred 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing roles.
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians best serve their patients.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong credibility with key customers, office staff, and others in the customer influence network through a customer-centric mindset.
  • Experience in Neurology preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals with strong account management and promotional skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset.
  • As this position requires operating a Company-provided vehicle, candidates must meet the requirements of a "Qualified Driver," including:
    • At least 21 years of age.
    • A driver’s license in good standing issued by your state of residence.
    • A driving risk level deemed acceptable by the Company.

  • Teamwork/Enterprise Mindset: Strong business acumen to analyze market drivers and develop executable business plans. Demonstrates learning agility, integrity, and good judgment to navigate role requirements compliantly.

Pay

Field - United States - US: $139,230 - $168,714 (full-time employee basis). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. The starting pay rate reflects required skills, job location, and relevant experience. Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience.

    • Additional time off based on eligibility, including unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs, and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
